We are currently looking for a Paediatric Speech P We are currently looking for a Paediatric Speech Pathologist to join the Full Circle Therapies team to work with children aged 0-18 years in our Kalgoorlie Allied Health Centre.

Your caseload will be a mix of children who are typically developing, as well as children with disabilities and school/council contracts.

We are looking for someone who is looking for that “something more” out of their career and an opportunity to work within the community to deliver an important service.

If you’re employing staff then you need policies If you’re employing staff then you need policies, HR Policies are general statements that serve to guide decision making and communication with employees. They generally serve three purposes
🪐To reassure employees that they will be treated fairly and without prejudice
🪐To assist managers and HR to make consistent decisions
🪐To give managers and HR the confidence to resolve problems, knowing that they are following the policy and procedure set out by the organisation in a consistent manner.

You may think that as ‘sensible adults’ your employees know how to behave – but unfortunately it’s not always the case. The mix of backgrounds, cultures, upbringings, education and experiences see all of us develop different ideas of what is and isn’t acceptable, and how to conduct ourselves at work. They can cover simple matters such as how an employee notifies you if they’re off sick, or what is acceptable work-wear. Through to more serious matters such as alcohol & drug consumption and discrimination.  Without clear guidelines, employees could inadvertently do the ‘wrong thing’.

Policies also detail how issues will be managed, so that there are clear consequences for unacceptable behaviours or poor performance.  Even if certain behaviours are obviously not acceptable, there could be confusion over their severity. 

Employee handbooks or policy manuals not only assist with communicating your standards, values and behaviours to employees but it also protects your company from possible legal action. 

So obviously there is no point having policies if you don’t implement them and get them signed off with your employees.

I love recruitment, out of all the HR functions it I love recruitment, out of all the HR functions it’s my favourite, I tell people it’s because it’s mostly a positive experience, you know, up until you have to tell someone they were unsuccessful for a job.

A lot of companies and recruiters deal with this by just not getting back to candidates, whether by the old “only shortlisted candidates will be contacted” or just obvious ghosting, but what damage are they doing to their brand in doing so?

Ghosting is not only rude, but can also have lasting effects on your company. Employers who ghost leave candidates with a bad taste in their mouths, affecting their overall perception of your brand. It’s important to remember that even though it’s just an interview, you still want to represent your company in the best way possible.

Another way ghosting could affect your company is by ruining your online employer reputation. Company review sites, like Seek or Indeed, allow for not just employees, but also interviewees to leave reviews on a business. You definitely don’t want your ideal candidate turning down the interview because he or she read that your company’s communication leaves little to be desired.

If someone has taken the time to prepare an application, taken time away from their existing job to come and meet with you for an interview, the least you can do is give them a call to give them some feedback. 

✨ Best practice is if the person has been interviewed then they get a call, if they haven’t been interviewed then an email will suffice

At a time when industry leaders and managers clamor for more qualified skilled workers, it doesn’t pay for companies to be invisible and ignore job seekers. Candidates expect more. And they deserve better.

Did you know the oldest Millennials are turning 40 Did you know the oldest Millennials are turning 40 in 2021! Over the past decade, we’ve heard a lot about how companies must adapt to the needs of Millennials. Well……I hate to break it to you, but it’s time we move on and explore the new kids in town (or the workplace)

Digital Integrators. Generation Connected. Millennial Intensified. These are just some of the creative terms used to label the newest – and largest – generation to enter the workforce: Gen Z

More than just hating on our side parts and skinny jeans, Gen Z is defined as those born between 1995 and 2009, they are now aged between 10 and 24 and make up approximately 30% of the world’s population. By 2021, Gen Z will make up approx 20% of a multigenerational workforce.

A big standout from older generations is Gen Z’s commitment to their personal values and a very true sense of self, they don’t differ from Millennials too much here. They have very strong social values, particularly around diversity and inclusion. If they don’t like what their organisation is doing, they’re not afraid to publicly say so on social media. But on the flip side they aren’t shy about giving credit where credit is due, (think all the amazing organisations who continued to pay employees who were off fighting the 2019/2020 Australian bush fires).

But in reality every generation has had a tipping point that has spurred on activism of some point; the Vietnam War; 80’s greed; 90’s revolt against – well everything (including saccharine pop music and hair band ballads); the GFC & anti Wall Street protest and now Me Too, climate change and diversity & inclusion. And each & every generation has had their elders declaring them entitled and lazy, so stop yelling at the kids to get off your lawn and let’s unpack Gen Z

💫 What are some facts about parental leave? 💫

✔️ An employee with a minimum of 12 months continuous service at the time of taking parental leave is entitled to have their position held open for them for 12 months (up to 24 months if the employer agrees)
✔️ Casuals working regular and systematic hours are also eligible
✔️ Parental Leave is provided to the primary carer of the child
✔️ Employees need to notify the employer at least 10 weeks prior to taking leave of their intent, with a final confirmation of dates at least 4 weeks prior
✔️ Leave must commence 6 weeks prior to the due date unless a medical certificate is supplied to say they are fit to continue to work
✔️ An employee is entitled to return to the same position & pay after the completion of parental leave - even if you have hired a replacement (& even if that replacement is a better fit)
✔️ With sufficient notice the employee may return from leave early
✔️ Centrelink administers the Federal Govt Paid Parental Leave scheme, the employee initiates this & is paid via your payroll
✔️Partners can access Dad & Partner Pay via Centrelink. To be eligible they can't be taking paid leave. Both of these schemes are paid at the minimum wage 

Don't expose yourself & your business to unnecessary risk, employment law is a complex beast and a specialist HR partner is an asset to have supporting both you and your employees

Businesses and leaders who see development of thei Businesses and leaders who see development of their employees as a priority routinely see more engaged, innovative employees with a solid connection to the company

If your first thought when I talk about investing in employee development is “What so I can invest all that time time and energy for them to just take all that knowledge elsewhere” then you need to reconsider your assumptions.

If an employee is fulfilled by their work they are less likely to leave. According to the 2018 Linkedin Workforce Learning Report a (not so surprising) 93% of employees stated they would stay at a company longer if it invested in their career.

That being said the “job for life” concept belongs in another time, so it’s inevitable that at some point in their career they will bid you farewell. So I guess what I’m saying is if you put effort into developing your employees at least you will get value, loyalty and connectedness from them during their tenure over those employees who are afforded very little training and concentrated career development.
