Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2020 $81,016 p.a – $96,824 p.a – above Award based on experience
This is a residential position based in Broome. Applicants must live locally or be willing to relocate.
Jalygurr-Guwan Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal community-led early learning service in Broome, with a purpose to empower our little people for generations. We’re looking for an Early Childhood Teacher to lead the educational program in their room, working alongside educators who care about children, culture and doing their work well.
The job
You’ll lead the learning within your room, bringing thoughtful planning and intentional teaching to the everyday experiences that help children grow. There’s room for your ideas, with guidance from the Curriculum Lead and Centre Manager, and educators alongside you who’ll benefit from your knowledge and encouragement.
Your work will include:
- Designing, delivering and evaluating a play-based educational program that responds to children’s strengths, interests, culture and developmental needs.
- Guiding educators in your room, sharing ideas and using observation, documentation and reflection to strengthen teaching practice.
- Work closely with the Educational Lead to strengthen teaching practice and implement curriculum improvements across the service
- Building trusting relationships with children and their carers, embedding Aboriginal perspectives and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment.
You
You’re curious about how children learn, comfortable taking the lead and generous with what you know. You can explain the thinking behind an experience, listen to another perspective and change your approach when a child needs something different.
You understand that culturally responsive teaching takes listening and learning. You respect Aboriginal knowledge and self-determination, and you’re ready to learn from the people and community around you.
You’ll bring:
- A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or ACECQA-approved equivalent, with current teacher registration
- 1 year demonstrated experience, designing, implementing and evaluating educational programs in an early childcare setting
- Knowledge of child development, intentional teaching, the EYLF and National Quality Standard, with the ability to turn that knowledge into a considered educational program.
- Clear communication and documentation skills, and a collaborative approach to working with educators, carers and community.
You’ll also need a current Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, and current first aid, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training.
Why us
At Jalygurr – Guwan Aboriginal Corporation, you won’t just step into a role – you’ll step into a community that genuinely cares. We prioritise wellbeing for our team as much as we do for our children and families, creating an environment where people feel safe, supported and respected. Aboriginal culture is embedded into our everyday practice, diversity is celebrated, and inclusion is lived, not labelled.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team that shares responsibility, supports one another and values continuous learning. Your ideas will matter. Your development will be supported. Your effort will be recognised. If you’re looking for a service where professionalism, purpose and people all sit side by side, Jalygurr – Guwan Aboriginal Corporation is a place where you can do meaningful work and feel valued while you do it.
