Someone celebrated a birthday!

Hot on the heels of Kalgoorlie’s 125th birthday on 15 June, yesterday it was Boulder’s turn with the 125th anniversary of the registration of the Great Boulder Lease on the Golden Mile.

Since then approx $100 billion of gold has been mined based on todays gold price. The term “Golden Mile” became popular around 1899 and was originally used to describe the mines on the Ivanhoe, Great Boulder, Golden Horseshoe, Chaffers, Hannan’s Star and Boulder Main Reef leases that now make up the Super Pit.

And that concludes our history lesson for today folks, enjoy your Friday.
